Amboseli! Finally!

Early in the morning 6AM on Saturday, we were on the road driving on the Mombasa highway past warehouses, Athi plains and Kajiado to arrive at the Amboseli National Reserve. After a quick lunch and after dropping the luggage at the amazing safari lodge, we were all set to go for the first game drive. The Savannah Grasslands spreading for miles with the Mt.Kilimanjaro in the backdrop was definitely a sight to behold. We were quick enough to spot Elephants, Zebras, Hyenas, Giraffes and umpteen species of birds which included the Secretary Bird, Egyptian Goose, African Fish Eagle and Blacksmith Plover to name a few. The Thomson's Gazelle and Grant's Gazelle were numerous in number and were all over the grasslands. The herd of African Elephants walking together with the Mt. Kilimanjaro in the background was an excellent capture. Further after spotting some Hippos, Baboons, Warthogs, Wildebeests and a swift chase scene, we returned to the lodge and spent the night amidst screeching and squealing sounds of the animals and birds.
The next morning, we were to go on an early morning game drive to spot the big cats. And we were more than overwhelmed to see the snow cap of Mt. Kilimanjaro first thing in the morning. Incredible! Post some posing and pictures before the clouds could veil the mountains, we headed to the so called Big-Cats Territory. We were lucky enough to spot the Cheetahs but not the Lions. To see the animals cross over the path was just amazing. The driver did a fantastic job of keeping the drive entertaining and enthralled us with numerous facts and stories. It was also very interesting to see the Maasai Tribes and to interact with them. On the whole, thanks to the awesome group and Spurwing Kenya for making the weekend lively and happening. Back in Nairobi now and looking up the selfies, elfies and kilfies that were captured. :))
